Bagels selber machen geht schneller als gedacht. Warm und frisch aus dem Ofen oder getoastet, mit Frischkäse, Lachs oder Schinken belegt, schmecken sie am besten.
This neighbourhood store in TriBeCa has 'All Good Things' you need: coffee, chocolate, flowers as well as fresh meat and vegetables. I dropped by in October with my visitors after I heard about the place from somebody. "A really lovely neighboorhood store, where you can spot celebrities from time to time" - as always, luck wasn't with me and I didn't meet anyone famous. I discovered however, a very lovely store with an even nicer atmosphere.
There are still some New York restaurants left, which I want to show you. Actually there is plenty, but I didn't manage to visit each of them, because time was too short. Also, I ate at so many nice and good places where I didn't take pictures, or just crappy ones with my phone. It would be a shame if nobody would ever discover these nice places just because of my incapability to take my camera with me. So I decided that I will create a list with places I've been to, such as cafes, bars, restaurants, markets and this kind of stuff, to let you know which places are definitely worth visiting. This might take some time though and until I've figured out what I want to mention on my list you can go on reading my weekly reviews :).
Today again, I am not writing about a specific restaurant, but about a lovely market located at South Seaport in the financial district, next to the East River. In the same area there is a building, where the 'New York Fish Market' was located, solely dedicated to selling fresh fish and now moved to the Bronx. The building is empty and discussions and petitions are going on to decide about its future.
You have a perfect view over Brooklyn and on Brooklyn Bridge here and you can easily combine your visit with a walk uptown along the East River.
