Holidays in Barcelona

Because of my little holiday trip to Barcelona, my blog has been on a stand-by modus for quite a while. Here are the most important impressions. To see the whole city guide you can follow THIS link.

I am back from Barcelona, back to Germany. Back to grey and life without the sea, life without tapas, without the lighthearted and chilled people, without the beach. Well, I shouldn't complain though, Germany can be fun, too! Nevertheless, I really wouldn't mind moving back to this magical and wonderful city in the North-East of Spain.

I again, as in my half-year Erasmus over there, had a lovely time and want to share this with you guys. Some places and restaurants are listed in this post. If you want to have an extended list or even download my recommendations, you can follow THIS link.

When going to Barcelona, brunch at Brunch & Cake is mandatory. It was hard to choose, but we went for the brie-caramelized onions-strawberry grilled cheese and eggs benny on waffles.

Another must-do is the Xampanyeria. Many people find it too crowded, to me it doesn't matter as it is worth coming here for the low-priced cava and food. A few glasses of cava, some slices of Cecina and a a few pieces of Xistorra were a great snack in the afternoon.

Don't miss the burgers at Kiosko or Bacoa. As always, I didn't choose a fancy burger, but a plain cheeseburger with manchego cheese and caramelized onions.

You also should visit La Malandrina. A decent Uruguayan restaurant with more than affordable dishes, mostly meat. Their homemade sauces, which they serve with your dinner, are delicious! My partner for this dinner was a glass of Clara - beer mixed with lemonade.

This spot belongs to Brunch & Cake. Cup & Cake really does have the best cupcakes in Barcelona. We started our morning with a flat white and a Nutella cupcake to go.

Jaica is the place to go for Tapas. They have renovated their second location, which makes it a lot spacier. Try the "bomba" and have a "tinto de verano" with it, you won't be disappointed. We were quite saturated after this dinner full of little tasty snacks.

Climb up to the Bunkers del Carmel. You will have an amazing view over the city. We went just before sundown, which is the best time to go.

During the last day we went up to Gracia, the northern part of Barcelona, which used to be separated from the rest and now is an acknowledged part of the city. There are lovely buildings, friendly people and even some hipsterish places that reminded me a bit of Berlin.

I love taking pictures of random doors. Don't ask why - maybe because you never know and can only guess what is hiding behind them..

After the little walking tour through Gracia we had a detox carrot-ginger juice at Cosmo Galeria Cafeteria.

For our last night we chose to have dinner at La Paradeta, a place recommended by our friends, who live in Barcelona. You order fresh sea food for a fair price. We had oysters, gambas, a tuna steak and baby octopuses, all super good.

These Churros are the best snack you can have after a long, long day at the beach and sunbathing.

Bye, bye my love it has been a pleasure and I hope to see you very soon, again.
