Restaurant Friday: Vegetarian doesn't need to be boring! At Cookies Cream, Berlin
A fantastic restaurant in Berlin Mitte, close to Unter den Linden and Friedrichstrasse, serving creative and very tasteful vegetarian (and on request even vegan) dishes.
Even though the restaurant is located right next to the nightclub 'Cookies' it is not so easy to find; You need to pass some kind of backyard, which isn't really posh or nice looking with garbage cans all around. But if you've made your way through the backyard you'll recognize a small staircase leading to a door - the only thing you need to do, is to ring the bell and someone will open the door for you. You have to climb some further stairs and you'll get to a very nice and cosy interior.
What to eat? - Hard to say, as all dishes sound and look great.
Anyways, I would recommend the quail egg in brioche with port wine shallot, potato foam and truffle jus as starter. Good God! The brioche was super soft, the potato foam was perfect with the truffle jus on top and the port wine shallot was aromatic and tasty. As second course I would go for the potato lasagna with fried asparagus and swiss truffle cheese. Finally, I loved the white bubble chocolate with pistachio cream, cassis sorbet and mascarpone as dessert.
The Rose wine "Clarette" - Knipser Pfalz matched perfectly with the light dinner.
Price? - 39€ for a three course dinner and it is worth the price! You can also order a main course only, for 22€ (all are the same price). Prices for wine are also quite reasonable.
When to go? - Don't forget to book a table. I would go with my parents, but it's also perfect for a girls night or a date.
Where? Behrenstrasse 55, 10117 Berlin
